Honoring Maksym Kryvtsov: A Legacy Night And Discussion

1/17
We had an incredible evening honoring the extraordinary talent of fallen hero, poet, and warrior Maksym Kryvtsov. Together with his sister, Anastasia Khudaverdian, we remembered Maksym as a caring uncle and a beautiful, tender soul. It was a special night dedicated to keeping his spirit alive through his poetry. T
hank you to Oksana Markarova, Advisor to the President of Ukraine on Reconstruction and Investments, for her opening remarks emphasizing the vital importance of translating Ukrainian literature into English. Alongside Roman Nabozhniak, who currently serves in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, she read her own English translation of Maksym's poem. Their reading beautifully captured Maksym’s unique ability to see the world's beauty even amidst the brutal realities of war.
We extend our deepest gratitude to our amazing moderator, Irena Chalupa, for guiding the conversation and helping our guests truly understand the beauty of Ukrainian poetry. Thank you as well to our audience, including Martha Holder, for reading his poems and sharing thoughtful questions.
Another highlight of the event was a video of Maksym reciting his own work and a touching recording of his father singing a song featuring Maksym’s lyrics.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. Your continued interest and support are essential in helping us preserve and share the powerful heritage of Ukrainian culture.
