Culture vs. War: Meet&Greet with Andriy Lyubka

1/10
Andriy Lyubka, a prominent Ukrainian writer and dedicated volunteer, has donated 310 vehicles to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He recently visited Ukraine House to present his new nonfiction book, War from the Rear.
The conversation opened with remarks by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, and was expertly moderated by Dr. Kateryna Smagliy, Counselor on Public Diplomacy at the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. The discussion explored the profound transformation of Ukrainian culture. Andriy shared his perspective on how Ukrainians are rediscovering themselves through cultural events and how culture in Ukraine has also evolved into a thriving business. He reflected on his experience during the early days of the war, as well as the initiatives he and other writers are leading to support the Armed Forces and uplift the spirits of those living in areas under constant shelling.
Andriy expressed his desire to continue writing nonfiction, as he has many powerful stories to tell the world—stories of war and the courage of ordinary civilians who have become extraordinary fighters. After his presentation, Andriy read an excerpt from his book, What Is Wrong with Me?, and signed copies for attendees, with all proceeds supporting his efforts to purchase vehicles for the army.
We are deeply grateful to everyone who joined us and actively engaged in this inspiring event.
