Lviv-based Iconart Gallery invited leading Ukrainian contemporary icon painters to create works for the charity auction “Icon Saves Lives – Ukraine,” with all proceeds donated to the “Always Ukraine” Charitable Foundation. The project was realized by Ukraine House in partnership with Artfira Gallery through an exhibition and auction held at Ukraine House from February 24 to March 24, 2023.

The exhibition presented contemporary icons by 20 artists, painted on boards reclaimed from real ammunition crates from the ongoing war in Ukraine. These powerful works reflect personal emotions of loss and resilience while expressing collective faith, hope, and unity of the Ukrainian nation. All participating artists donated 100% of the proceeds to support humanitarian and defense efforts, transforming symbols of war into symbols of life, light, and spiritual strength.
